Have you ever wondered what the heck sustainability is? This episode sheds some light on the capacity to endure, the definition of sustainability, and what is being done on a personal, and collective level to develop a system that aims to puts care for people, and the planet FIRST.
Elaine Smith Genser, a former financial professional for the world's largest funds and banks, is now working with the UN JOINT SDG FUND for partnerships and engagement and shares insights about the 17 Global Goals, and the inside action and outside action, to achieve them.
Highlights of the conversation are discussions about how to measure and evaluate the progress we are making to transition beyond business-as-usual, how collaboration is the key to unlocking our prosperity, we step into a future that has achieved these 17 goals, and what kind of human being and society that supports.
How sometimes those who have the least are often times more aligned with humans, and nature, and how those who have the most might miss the mark when it comes to WHY they are working on sustainable development.
If indeed, a convergence of crisis does somehow thwart these efforts, then at least we are leaving our posterity the tools to adapt, rebuild better, and to move beyond survival - into thriving.
Finally, Elaine leaves us with another community-building tool, to reflect on your ability to serve a greater purpose, and that the inner development of our relationships, awareness, and being interconnected to each other and nature, are the foundations of any future SDG fulfillment.
